The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the hardships faced by low-income families struggling to put food on the table — challenges that were further compounded by widespread job losses caused by the Movement Control Order (MCO). The situation was made even more critical as NGOs and social-purpose organisations faced significant obstacles in delivering aid, due to travel restrictions and health risks.
Thanks to the cashless nature of MyKasih’s aid distribution system, the organisation’s team was able to activate and manage the programme remotely from their homes. During the MCO period, 8,000 families received food assistance worth RM 1.83 million through MyKasih.
This swift and effective mobilisation of donor funds to targeted beneficiaries was made possible by MyKasih’s extensive network of retail partners – such as Giant, Mydin, The Store, Tesco, AEON, Econsave, TF Value Mart, and Speedmart99 – operating across more than 300 outlets nationwide.
