For families living below the poverty line, even the most basic necessities can become a daily uncertainty. Through the government’s Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) initiative, targeted monthly support is helping to ease that burden — ensuring essentials like food are within reach.
Under Budget 2025, SARA initiative will reach 700,000 low-income and hardcore poor households nationwide, including families in Sabah and Sarawak.

Eligible recipients, identified via the eKasih database, will receive up to RM2,100 throughout 2025, a significant increase from the RM1,200 allocation in 2024.
From January to March, RM100 was credited into their MyKad monthly. Beginning April, the amount rises to RM200 per month. This assistance can be used to purchase an approved list of hygiene products, medicine, schooling items and groceries at 3,700 participating stores nationwide.
In April, 5.4 million Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients will receive additional SARA support as well — RM100 per household and RM50 for senior citizen without spouse.
This RM13 billion allocation marks the highest combined allocation for STR and SARA in Malaysia’s history.

The primary objective of Kasih Johor was to ease the cost of living for the B40 group who had never received any assistance from the state government.
